Forest regions of Kerala are abundant in wild animals including elephants, tigers, leopards, bison, bear, sambar, spotted deer and extinct species like lion tailed monkey, flying squirrel and a host of other animals. By taking boat cruises in the lakes in forest area or by sitting on a tree top hut, one can see herds of elephants drinking, bathing and frolicking in water. You can also view other animals coming out from dense forest to drink water and graze in grass lands. Arrangements are done for elephant riding, angling, and watching wild animals from observation towers. There are many bird sanctuaries for the bird watchers.
